Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 04th April, 2019) Mismanagement and misuse of power in the administrative affairs of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) speaks volume, sources said on Thursday.Patients and their attendants are forced to repeatedly visit the Pims to receive results of their test but absence of trained staff caused undue delay in the delivery of their test reports.The sources said Blood CP test result which can be prepared in five minutes takes weeks due to lack of interest of the laboratory staff as most of the time untrained and irrelevant staff performed duty at the lab counter.
Since the shift of lab outside the hospital, the lab affairs mostly handle by trainee students and outsiders.According to details, Hassan Zaidi who is basically a anesthesia technician and he should be appointed in the operation theater handles laboratory affairs whereas the laboratory counter no 8 is under the control of ring students . The sources said that Hassan Zaidi's brother is Pims Assistant Controller so he has freedom to do what he wants.
Despite several complains no inquiry could be conducted against the mismanagement so far. An inquiry against Hassan Zaidi was initiated on January 14, 2019 but it could not be preceded so far.Handling laboratory affairs by outsiders has become a routine matter which can cause serious incident if the PIMS management didn't take notice of the violation. An official, requested not to be named, said Ayan Ali, a Patwari by profession, also perform duty at the laboratory counter.
