Russian-Venezuelan Intergovernmental Commission Meeting Starts Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th April, 2019) The meeting of the high-level Russian-Venezuelan Intergovernmental Commission opens in Moscow on Thursday.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Borisov and his Venezuelan counterpart, Tareck El Aissami, who were expected to attend the high-profile event, will not join the meeting, according to sources in Borisov's office. The meeting will instead be co-chaired by their deputies.

The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday.

Earlier in March, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, announced that over 20 documents on cooperation on the economy, trade, energy and education will be signed during the high-level meeting.

The last meeting of the Commission was held in the Russian resort city of Sochi in November 2017. In total, the nations held 13 meetings since the Commission was launched back in 2002. The Moscow event will be the 14th for the countries.
