Kazakh President Says Gives Special Priority to Allied Relations With Russia

The development of allied relations with Russia is a special goal in Kazakhstan's system of priorities, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on the eve of his visit to Moscow

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd April, 2019) The development of allied relations with Russia is a special goal in Kazakhstan's system of priorities, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on the eve of his visit to Moscow.

Tokayev is expected to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. According to the Kremlin press service, the agenda of the talks will be focused on bilateral relations and integration processes in the post-Soviet space.

"There are special goals within the [Kazakh] system of priorities. I mean the development of allied relations with Russia, which, naturally, does not hinder the development of cooperation with other states. The very fact of my first foreign visit to Russia [after becoming president] speaks for itself," Tokayev said in an interview with Russia's respected Kommersant newspaper.

Tokayev was sworn in as Kazakhstan's acting president on March 20 following resignation of long-term Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev. He will lead the country until the presidential election scheduled for 2020.
