Fawad Chaudhry says BISP name will remain unchanged

The federal cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Tuesday decided not to change the name of Benazir Income Support programme

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 02nd April, 2019) The federal cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Tuesday decided not to change the name of Benazir Income Support programme.Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry during a press talk informed about the decisions taken in the federal cabinet meeting. �The name of Benazir Income Support Program is not being changed,' he added.The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader said that the support programme led by late Pakistan People's Party leader's name will no longer be getting amended while also stating that multiple other projects are in the pipeline to alleviate poverty.

He revealed decisions taken in the cabinet, bringing forth many social welfare programmes, including affordable housing scheme and a programme named �Ehsaas' to be initiated soon.Fawad Chaudhry further added that the cabinet has also approved the formation of a new ministry for poverty alleviation.Talking on the issue of Indian Premier League transmission ban, he opined that sports should be left out of politics but the use of the camouflage caps by the Indian cricket team made them a global laughing stock.

The minister added that Pakistan's economy is headed towards stability and better time is around the corner.Earlier, the name of BISP had stirred up a debate in political circles after Prime Minister Imran Khan, upon the preposition by Grand Democratic Alliance leader, had previously announced to change it.The PPP had vowed to resist the reported plan tooth and nail, with its chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari alleging that the government was "conspiring" to wrap up BISP by initially changing its name and then reducing its funds.The Information Minister also ensured for a respite in load shedding during Ramadan. NNI
