The National Assembly's standing committee on water resources on Tuesday decided to write a letter to the Speaker over absence of the IRSA officials in its meeting

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 02nd April, 2019) The National Assembly's standing committee on water resources on Tuesday decided to write a letter to the Speaker over absence of the IRSA officials in its meeting.Chairman of the committee, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, in meeting of the committee at the Parliament House here, said that the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) officials instead of appearing in the meeting decided to hold their own session on the same day.

Talpur said that the meeting of the parliament body was scheduled 10 days ago, while the IRSA decided three days ago about holding its advisory committee meeting on the same day.He said the matter will also be raised in the session of the Council of Common Interest (CCI). The meeting reviewed the measures to meet the flood situation in the country.Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Marriyum Aurangzeb, said she don't know what the Flood Commission is doing. They are only talking about the performance of other institutions.She said no institution is prepare to take its responsibility, what they will do in a flood emergency situation, she posed question in the standing committee's meeting. "Only the military seen standing to help when the flood hits," she remarked. NNI
