Federal cabinet approves creation of Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Div

The federal cabinet has formally approved creation of a new division in the name of social protection and poverty alleviation.This was announced by Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain during a news briefing in Islamabad Tuesday afternoon

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 02nd April, 2019) The Federal cabinet has formally approved creation of a new division in the name of social protection and poverty alleviation.This was announced by Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain during a news briefing in Islamabad Tuesday afternoon.He said the federal cabinet, which met in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, also approved a budget of 57.3 billion rupees for Khassadar and other forces working in erstwhile FATA.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also made it clear that the government is not going to change the name of Benazir Income Support Programme. He said financial aid is provided to poor people through BISP, Zakaat, and Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal, whereas under the new social welfare programme new initiatives will be taken. He said health cards, kafalat and affordable housing scheme to be launched by the Prime Minister soon Ehsas facilitate poor people of Pakistan.

The Minister said the cabinet also gave approval to the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Council (ECC). He said the Prime Minister directed to prepare a complete road map regarding procurement of wheat, cotton, and rice to benefit the agriculture sector. He said export of one million tons of wheat was approved by the cabinet. He said the Prime Minister also advised to evolve a comprehensive policy to set prices of vehicles. He said it was the PTI government's efforts due to which for the first time sugarcane growers got prices of their crop in time.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the cabinet nodded banning broadcasting of India's IPL matches in Pakistan. He said India has left no opportunity to harm Pakistan's cricket. He said sports, culture, and other showbiz activities should not be politicized, but India adopted an aggressive posture against our players and artists. He said Indian broadcaster pulled out from broadcasting PSL matches to harm Pakistan's cricket. He said now the PEMRA would ensure that IPL matches should not be aired in Pakistan.

The Minister said boards of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, Oil and Gas Development Authority, Sui Southern Gas Pipe Lines, and Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines have been reconstituted.He said the cabinet approved appointment of Arshad Malik as the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines.The Information Minister told the media that 33 cabinet meetings have so far been held during which 606 decisions were taken out which 375 have been fully implemented, while rest is in implementation phase.
