Zelenskiy Leads Ukrainian Presidential Race With 30.24% After 95% Of Ballots Counted - CEC

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd April, 2019) Volodymyr Zelenskiy maintains lead in the Ukrainian presidential race with 30.24 percent of votes, while incumbent President Petro Poroshenko is ranking second with 15.94 percent, the country's Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Monday, after 95 percent of the ballots were counted.

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko ranks third with 13.39 percent of votes, while the leader of the Opposition Platform For Life party, Yuriy Boyko, is fourth with 11.58 percent, the CEC added.

On Sunday, Poroshenko stressed that the presidential election in Ukraine was held freely and in accordance with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) standards. In contrast, the team of Tymoshenko accused Ukraine's Security Service of manipulations with the vote and of provocations during the election.

According to the CEC, no serious violations were registered during the voting, while the Interior Ministry said it had recorded more than 2,600 reports about violations in the election process.

Moreover, Russian observers from the OSCE have been barred from monitoring the voting process by Kiev, which jeopardizes the legitimacy of the future results of the vote, according to Moscow.

In addition, Kiev did not organize polling places either in those parts of the eastern Donbas region that are not controlled by Kiev, or in Russia, where the largest diaspora of the Ukrainian people lives, which has affected up to 10 million eligible Ukrainian voters.
