Russian-Venezuelan Intergovernmental Commission Preparations Proceed on Track - Ambassador

The preparations for the Russian-Venezuelan high level intergovernmental commission are going as planned, Russian Ambassador to Caracas Vladimir Zaemskiy, who is currently in Moscow to take part in preparations, told Sputnik on Monday

MEXICO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st April, 2019) The preparations for the Russian-Venezuelan high level intergovernmental commission are going as planned, Russian Ambassador to Caracas Vladimir Zaemskiy, who is currently in Moscow to take part in preparations, told Sputnik on Monday.

"The preparations are on track," the diplomat said adding that the subgroups' sessions had already started on Monday.

According to Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, over 20 documents on cooperation in economic, trade, energy, and education will be signed during the meeting.

The upcoming session of the commission is scheduled for the beginning of April and will be held in Moscow. However, there was still no clear date announced.

Venezuelan Petroleum Minister Manuel Quevedo was supposed to take part in the Commission's session but it was reported on Monday that he would not pay an official visit to Moscow this week despite previous arrangement to meet Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

The last meeting of the Commission took place in Sochi in November 2017. There has been 13 meetings held in total since the Commission was established in 2002 in accordance to the respective protocol between Russia and Venezuela.
