Chaudhry Shujaat warns govt to focus on economy

Political matters will further deteriorate, if the economic situation is not set in order, warned Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. However, the economy can be fixed, he said."Prime Minister Imran Khan is an honest person

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 01st April, 2019) Political matters will further deteriorate, if the economic situation is not set in order, warned Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. However, the economy can be fixed, he said."Prime Minister Imran Khan is an honest person. He wants the country to progress," said the PML-Q chief in an exclusive interview with a private television channel on Monday. "All politicians of the country should work for the national good.

"Hussain said people who destructed the economy should be penalised. However, he said, it won't make any major difference if NAB captures people who undertook corruption worth merely Rs300,000 or Rs 400,000.He also opposed the 18th Constitutional Amendment - a topic the Pakistan Peoples Party is sensitive about. "The 18th Amendment was a criminal offence to the future generations," he said. "Education was handed to the provinces and this was a major wrong committed through the amendment.

Education is a Federal subject in every country as a uniform syllabus is taught to all children across the country."It's quite unfortunate that the matter is being politicised, he said, demanding that education be abolished from the amendment and it be made a federal matter again. The PML-Q chief also commented on the anti-government train march launched by PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in March. He said the train march won't make any difference to [Prime Minister] Imran Khan as he knows Bilawal is a child'.

"In his childhood days, he [Bilawal] must have played with trains. He, therefore, recalled a train," he said."We are the government's allies on one hand and on the other, we have a friendship with former president Asif Ali Zardari, he said. We are willing to talk to any one for the national interest," he said.He reiterated his stance that his party has contacts with the PML-N MPAs in Punjab. "Mian Sahib [former prime minister Nawaz Sharif] lived in five-star prisons. But, we served terms in jails where even bathrooms didn't exist," he said.NAB is trying to send Shehbaz Sharif to jail, he said. NNI
