Jahangir Tareen responds to Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s criticism

Tareen said nobody, including Qureshi, can stop him from serving the country.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 1st April, 2019) Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has once again come out against fellow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen.

He criticised Tareen for attending official party meetings despite being disqualified by the Supreme Court.

Responding to this criticism, Tareen said nobody, including Qureshi, can stop him from serving the country.

He said that he goes everywhere with the wish and consent of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Tareen added that he is only answerable to the prime minister on political matters.

“Serving Pakistan is my right. Nobody, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, can stop me from serving the country,” he said.

He also took to Twitter to respond to Qureshi.

"There's only one man in my life whom I consider my leader & to whom I'm answerable. His name is Imran Khan. I've stood by his side through thick and thin and will continue to do so till my last breath, IA. What others may say for their own strange reasons does not concern me," he wrote.

Earlier while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Monday, the foreign minister had opposed Tareen attending the official meetings.

“Jahangir Tareen has given many services to the PTI but when he attends official meetings, it gives a chance to the opposition to criticise him,” he said.

Qureshi said that Tareen is very capable but he should not head the party meetings, this ridicules the decision of chief justice.

“When you sit in the party meetings, it goes against the court decision,” he added.

He went on to say that Tareen should continue to serve the party.

“Can service only be done by presiding party meetings?” he said, adding that service can be done without violating the rules and business.

Qureshi said that Jahangir Tareen should change the way of his service.

He can give us suggestions, we will respect them but he should not do anything that gives others a chance to criticise the party, the foreign minister added.
