Over 900 Syrians Returned Home From Jordan, Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st March, 2019) More than 900 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said on Sunday.

"Over the past day, in total 923 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from foreign states: 248 people, including 75 women and 126 children, left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints, and 675 people, including 203 women and 344 children, from Jordan via the Nasib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

The center added that as many as 132 internally displaced Syrians had returned to their places of permanent residence in the country over the given period.

The Russian military have carried out two humanitarian operation in Homs and Deir ez-Zor provinces, delivering 4.3 tonnes of food to local residents. The Russian Akhmad Kadyrov Regional Public Fund, in turn, has distributed a tonne of bread among Aleppo residents.

According to the bulletin, the Syrian engineering units have cleared of mines 3.3 hectares (8.1 acres) of land and also defused 26 explosive devices in the country over the past 24 hours.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
