BOGOTA, (Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2019) A reception was hosted by the UAE embassy in Colombia Friday to highlight the evolution of Zayed Sustainability Prize 2020 to recognise a wider scope of globally impactful solutions addressing world's sustainability challenges.

The function, attended by senior Colombian officials from the ministries of agriculture, health, trade, industry and tourism, as well as congressmen and business people, was addressed by UAE Ambassador to Colombia, Salim Rashid Al Oweis, who underlined the UAE leadership's efforts inspired by late Sheikh Zayed's vision towards underpinning sustainable development.

"The UAE leadership's long-term vision on renewable energy and the government's sustainability-oriented efforts have made the Zayed Sustainability Prize the world's most prestigious in the field of renewable energy and sustainability," said the ambassador.

"Built on the foundations of sustainable growth, innovation and development, the award has evolved from the Zayed Future Energy Prize into the Zayed Sustainability Prize of today. The latest incarnation of the Zayed prize will support five categories of sustainability; health, food, water, energy and global high schools. The Prize's categories have been expanded to include non-government organisations, small and medium institutions, and high schools, with one school from each of the world's five continents to be awarded," he explained.

The ambassador shed light on the significance of the visit paid earlier this month to Colombia by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and its contribution to advancing bilateral relations, particularly at the cultural and educational levels.
