PESHAWAR (Pakistan Point News - 29th March, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah Farman and discussed the latest situation in Occupied Kashmir and other matters of mutual interest including development projects and economic growth in AJK and KP. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shah Furman reiterated that Pakistan will continue to extend the moral, political and diplomatic support to the struggle of Kashmiris for their fundamental and internationally recognized right to self-determination.

He said the KP government is providing all facilities to the Kashmir community in the province. AJK President thanked the efforts of the federal government for highlighting Kashmir issue at international forums and added that people of Kashmir and KP enjoyed centuries-old geographical, ideological and religious affinity. He said that AJK government wants early completion of Mansehra, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur Expressway at the earliest which will equally benefit the people of the two regions.

The Governor assured that KP will take all possible measures for early construction of Mansehra, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur Expressway. Earlier speaking at a ‘meet the press’ event of the Peshawar Press Club, President Masood urged the international community to play an effective role for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue and asked the United Nations step forward and stop the bloodshed in Indian-occupied territory. He said hundreds of people in occupied Kashmir had lost their eyesight due to use of pellet guns by Indian soldiers and have been left paralysed, but the international community has turned a blind eye to the worst kind of violence.

The AJK President said Pakistan did not want to involve itself in any kind of confrontation despite constant provocation by India through different tactics. Pakistan has always tried to resolve the Kashmir issue through diplomatic channels because war is not a solution to the problem, he added. Referring to the shooting down of Indian jet fighters by the Pakistan Air Force, he said the counter-attack was aimed at protecting Pakistan’s borders only.

Masood Khan said Kashmir was the backbone of Pakistan and its geographic boundaries were incomplete without it, adding that the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir want to be a part of Pakistan and that is why India continues to ruthlessly kill the innocent people in IOK. He talked about the brutal incidents against men, women, even children and senior citizens and said that the entire leadership in occupied Kashmir has been put behind bars for their one sin, that is, their demand for their right to self-determination.

He regretted that the imprisonment of leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference was totally unjustified as they had been struggling in a peaceful manner for their freedom from Indian occupation which was their basic human right. He said that the restriction on Jamaat-i-Islami and other organisations in occupied Kashmir was illogical. He alleged that the Indian government was funding the extremist forces and parties with an aim to kill Muslims. He thanked the Peshawar Press Club’s office-bearers for giving him an opportunity to interact with media persons and also invited them to visit Azad Kashmir.
