BRUSSELS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th March, 2019) The European Parliament is expected to adopt changes to the EU Gas Directive on April 4, according to the parliament's agenda.
Last week, the amendments were overwhelmingly approved by the parliament's Committee on Industry, Research, Telecommunications and Energy (ITRE). The changes are aimed at extending internal EU rules on energy to offshore pipelines, which would affect the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline expected to carry gas from Russia to Germany.
"MEPs will adopt new legislation on the EU gas market to ensure that the same rules will apply both to gas pipelines inside the EU and to those coming into the EU from non-EU countries. (Thursday)," the agenda read.
