MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Tehmina Janjua met in Islamabad to discuss the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The ministers touched upon the issues during the 13th meeting of the Russian-Pakistani Advisory Group on Strategic Stability in the Pakistani capital.

"Issues related to arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction were discussed" at the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The sides agreed to expand Russian-Pakistani cooperation in order to ensure "global and regional strategic stability," the statement concluded.

The meeting took place a day after Pakistani Foreign Ministry stressed that Islamabad strongly opposes any arms race in space and called for improvement of international space laws, in response to India's claim to have successfully tested an anti-satellite missile.
