Lavrov, Cavusoglu to Discuss Launch of Syria's Constitutional Committee - Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu will discuss at a meeting in Antalya, among other things, separation of terrorists and moderate opposition in Idlib and the early launch of the Syrian constitutional committee, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu will discuss at a meeting in Antalya, among other things, separation of terrorists and moderate opposition in Idlib and the early launch of the Syrian constitutional committee, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.

Lavrov will visit Antalya on March 28-29 to attend the seventh meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group (JSPG) chaired by the two countries' top diplomats. The group operates as part of the Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council led by the Russian and Turkish presidents. The previous, sixth meeting of the JSPG was held on March 14, 2018 in Moscow.

"In particular, separation of terrorists from the 'moderate' part of the opposition in the de-escalation zone in Idlib will be discussed," the ministry said.

"The ministers will also discuss opportunities for the early launch of the work of the constitutional committee, which is intended to determine the foundations for the future political structure of Syria," it said.
