Florida Senate Exempts Images Of Mass Killings From Public Disclosure Laws

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) Images, videos and audio recordings from mass killings held by government agencies in the US state of Florida would be blocked from public release under legislation unanimously approved by the state Senate on Friday and published on the Senate website.

"The Legislature is gravely concerned and saddened by the horrific mass killings perpetrated at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood 189 International Airport, and at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School," the legislation reads.

Approval for the legislation came on a 40-0 vote.

An Islamist terrorist killed 49 people at the Pulse Nightclub in 2016, a troubled US Army veteran killed five the following year in an airport attack and an expelled student killed 17 students at a high school in 2018.

The legislation cited fears that terrorists could use Florida's public records law to obtain material to recruit followers and inspire more killings, or that the material could trigger massacres by mentally unstable or morally corrupt persons.
