Govt wants more women to become pilots

The government has decided to subsidise pilot courses for women to encourage them to join the field

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 26th March, 2019) The government has decided to subsidise pilot courses for women to encourage them to join the field.The Civil Aviation Authority will pay Rs400,000 of the total cost of pilot courses for women pilots. This was approved at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday."This is the perfect opportunity for all women who want to become pilots," said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry at a press conference after the meeting.

A new aviation policy has been approved too. The government has agreed to expand its visa regime under which 160 countries will be given e-visas and 58 countries will get visa on arrival.Moreover, people have been encouraged to start aviation services at Pakistan's tourist spots. These will include passenger planes with a capacity for 40 people and helicopters. Previously, people could only import passenger and cargo planes which were 12 years old. It has been increased to 18 and 30 years respectively.These special measures have been taken to promote tourism, said Chaudhry. NNI
