KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 25th March, 2019) Syed Areeb, who was killed in the terror attack on two mosques in New Zealand last week, was laid to rest in Karachi on Monday.Areeb has been laid to rest in the Sakhi Hassan cemetery. His funeral prayers were offered at the Sangam Ground located in Dastagir-9, FB Area. Thousands of people, including Dr Farooq Sattar and Arshad Vohra, attended his last rites.Representatives of different political parties attended the funeral while holding their party flags.

The flags were hoisted at the ground in the run up to the funeral which gave the funeral the sight of a political rally."It's a funeral of a martyr," said Areeb's father, Syed Ayaz, addressing the gathering. "I demand the government establish a university as my son's memorial." MQM-P's Amir Khan supported the demand."It is an honor to cast the last look at a martyr's face," Areeb's uncle, Muzaffar Khan said. "It's a tragedy that can never be recompensed," he said.

The officials in Pakistan and New Zealand cooperated with us, he added.Areeb is one of the 50 victims of the Christchurch terror attack and one of the nine Pakistanis killed. On March 24, his body was handed over to the Pakistani authorities in New Zealand. The body was brought back on board Emirates flight EK-600.
