MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council the unstable situation in the middle East, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed the meeting participants about his visit to Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday.
"There was an exchange of views on a number of aspects of the Middle East settlement. It was noted that the highly unstable and tense situation in the region should not be provoked by ill-considered actions and statements by countries directly related to the settlement process," Peskov said.
He said that during the meeting, Shoigu "informed the participants about the visit to Syria and about the content of his contacts with the republic's president, Bashar Assad."
