PM Imran takes notice of Punjab MPAs demanding raise in salary

The prime minister has reportedly contacted Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar regarding the issue.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 13th March, 2019) Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a notice upon Punjab Assembly members demanding a raise in salary.

The prime minister has reportedly contacted Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar regarding the issue.

The prime minister has directed not to increase the salaries of Punjab Assembly members more than those of the members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

A private bill seeking raise in the salary of Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) was submitted in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

The bill recommended an increase in basic salary along with a rise in some other incentives.

The move appeared at a time when the government was focusing on austerity measures, curtailing unnecessary expenditures and focusing on public welfare programs.

The bill recommends enhancing in MPA salary to Rs200, 000 per month besides an increase in daily allowances, conveyance allowance, and other incentives.

This is not the first time that the lawmakers demand an increase in salaries but they come forward with similar moves almost twice a year.
