ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News - 12th March, 2019) Forty-four regional offices of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will be upgraded with digital transformation to ensure provision of efficient services to the Universityís 1.4 million registered students. This was decided at the regional directorsí conference that was held here on Tuesday through video conferencing. While announcing a road-map on the occasion for the Universityís future development, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr.

Zia-Ul-Qayyum said that the target, ëaccess to education for All will be achieved through the smart use of new technology and bringing about qualitative improvement in overall admission, examination and delivery system. In introducing and implementing the new academic programs, the guidelines and set criteria of the Higher Education Commission will be strictly adhered to, he added. It was a five-hour long interactive conference that was participated by Deans and Heads of various academic and services departments.

Various proposals were discussed during the meeting to improve the administrative and financial matters of the University and strengthening the regional offices, which the Vice Chancellor said are their backbone in providing best possible services to the masses through distance learning system. The regional offices will be facilitated and empowered to meet the needs of the students on fast track-bases. Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum announced that the matters relating to timely provision of books and study material to the students will be addressed on urgent basis. There will be well-equipped libraries and computer labs in all the regional offices in order to facilitate the students in the learning process, he added. It was decided that the aspiring candidates will be facilitated to get them enrolled in the on-admissions that will last till March 15.
