DFWAC expands partnerships to assist victims of violence, human trafficking

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2019) The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, has expanded its partnership opportunities at the 2019 Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition, DIHAD.

In a press statement, the Foundation said that it aims to introduce to global partners participating at DIHAD to the services it provides for victims of violence and human trafficking, particularly women and children.

It held a number of meetings with representatives of participating organisations, discussing opportunities for cooperation and exchange of expertise, as well as supporting charitable efforts for victims of violence and human trafficking within the UAE Commenting on the Foundation's participation, Afra Al Basti, DFWAC Director-General, explained that the Foundation seeks to present its expertise and services to all stakeholders, to learn about the best international practices, and to benefit from the experience of other parties in this field, as well as to build new partnerships to support its projects aimed at assisting victims of violence and human trafficking Established in 2007, DFWAC was the UAE's first licensed non-profit shelter for victims of domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking. The Foundation offers victims immediate protection and support services, in accordance with international human rights obligations, providing them with shelter, rehabilitation, medical and educational services.

Al Basti noted that DIHAD reflects the vision of the UAE's leadership and the special interest of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in humanitarian and charitable works.

She added that this event has received greater attention this year as it falls within the Year of Tolerance, marking the deep-rooted values of the nation and its leadership in terms of tolerance, compassion, respect for others and the promotion of noble human values above all else.
