The former prime minister thanked Bilawal and other party leaders for visiting him in jail.
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 11th March, 2019) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto called on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Kot Lakhpat Jail today.
Bilawal along with other senior party leaders met Nawaz Sharif to inquire about his health. PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira, Hassan Murtaza and Mustafa Khokhar accompanied Bilawal on the occasion.
The former prime minister thanked Bilawal and other party leaders for visiting him in jail.
Strict security arrangements were made around Kot Lakhpat Jail in view of Bilawal’s visit.
Bilawal was granted the permission by Punjab Home Department to meet Nawaz Sharif on Monday.
Bilawal had forwarded a formal application to the Punjab home department seeking permission of the authorities for his meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
Bilawal Bhutto had raised concerns over the health of former premier and alleged callous and inhumane treatment of Nawaz Sharif by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government.
Incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif keeps refusing to be relocated to a hospital for treatment despite requests by his family members after Prime Minister Imran Khan directed Punjab government to provide best medical treatment to the PML-N head.
Sharif family members, including Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and former Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz, Khawaja Asif, and Sharif's personal doctor have been trying to convince him to get admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Nawaz Sharif however says that he is fine in jail and cannot make fun of himself.
