ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2019) H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, has affirmed that the UAE - under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - is one of the pioneering countries in the field of empowering People of Determination to enhance their role in society.
"Special attention is being given by the UAE's leadership to provide People of Determination (people with disabilities) with decent care, guarantee their rights, and support their causes," H.H. Sheikha Fatima said in a statement to the Emirates news Agency, WAM, on the occasion of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
"The UAE is making concrete efforts to integrate children with special needs in the society and seeks to send a global message in spreading the values of tolerance and peace to give them the respect and appreciation they deserve, at various levels locally, regionally and internationally," she noted.
Sheikha Fatima stressed the importance of supporting and coordinating with the parties and stakeholders to ensure the success of this huge sporting event in the UAE, which includes about 7,500 participants from about 190 countries in addition to 20,000 volunteers. The event is expected to witness more than 500,000 viewers and millions of visitors from around the world.
She also highlighted the vital role played by the UAE in hosting major events that require massive efforts and teamwork to highlight the civilised face of the state and enhance its reputation worldwide.
"We are here to record our pride in the achievements of all the heroes of People of Determination and all of what they offer to their homeland and their great superiority to raise the UAE flag in international forums, whether sports, cultural or scientific. They are a highlight and an address for the high esteem we are proud of," Her Highness added.
H.H. also emphasised the humanitarian and moral role of every citizen and resident in the country, stressing the importance of respecting the rights of people with disabilities. She also urged all UAE citizens and residents to provide facilities for the integration of People of Determination in society and their access to all their rights.
Sheikha Fatima reiterated that Emirati women are a key partner in the success of this global humanitarian sports event. "Emirati women with special needs have achieved many accomplishments, and we consider them partners in the comprehensive development of the state."
She added that "Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 is a beautiful chapter of the UAE's leadership and excellence in organising and hosting the most important international sporting events."
Her Highness called on all sectors of society and institutions to join forces in order to ensure the success of this global event.
