Ukraine Gets Turkish Bayraktar UСAVs, Tests to be Held Soon - Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko confirmed on Wednesday that Ankara supplied Kiev with Turkish Bayraktar unmanned combat aerial vehicles and the tests were coming

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th March, 2019) Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko confirmed on Wednesday that Ankara supplied Kiev with Turkish Bayraktar unmanned combat aerial vehicles and the tests were coming.

"Soon there will be a test of powerful unmanned aerial complex Bayraktar, on the supply of which I managed to negotiate with Turkish President Recep [Tayyip] Erdogan. I can even say that these complexes are already in Ukraine," the Ukrainian leader stated during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.

The news that Kiev administration has been negotiating with Turkish colleagues on the purchase of the combat drones has been emerging since the end of 2018. The Ukrainian leader boasted in January that he signed the contract to purchase the advanced Bayraktar TB2 from Ankara.

Turkish drones are not the only military equipment Ukraine has purchased or advances to purchase recently. In January, Ukrainian ambassador to Canada confirmed that Kiev was planning to receive the first batch of sniper rifles from Ottawa later this year. In February, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze announced that Kiev was going to buy weapons, in particular Javelin anti-tank missiles, from the United States.

Russia has repeatedly warned Ukraine against buying weapons, saying that it won't contribute to stabilizing the situation in Donbas where an armed conflict has been raging since April 2014.
