Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Masood Khan said Indian aggression against Pakistan has not only highlighted Kashmir issue at the global level but also exposed the jingoistic and chauvinistic mindset of the Indian rulers. He said that presently the biggest threat to world peace and stability is the Hindu extermist mindset being floated by India’s ruling party and its extremist affiliates. “India always falsely dubbed the struggle of Kashmiri people as terrorism but now the world has started to look upon the unresolved Kashmir conflict as a potential threat to global peace and security, which they acknowledge needs to be addressed urgently,” The President said.

Describing Kashmiri peoples’ struggle for their right to self-determination as legitimate, just and in line with the United Nations Charter, President Masood called upon the United Nations to play a role for peaceful settlement of Kashmir conflict keeping in view its Charter and resolutions passed by the Security Council. “UN must not play the role of silent spectator. Instead it should take solid steps for resolution of the core issue of Kashmir according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people in order to provide solid ground for peace in the region,” Khan emphasized.

The AJK President also condemned India for imposing an illegal ban on Jamaat-e-Islami in Occupied Kashmir and its bid to rescind Articles 35-A and 370 of the Indian constitution. He said that Indian attempt is aimed to deprive the people of Jammu and Kashmir of whatever little is left of the special rights Kashmiri have got from the Indian constitution. The President at the same time disclosed that revoking of these two articles from Indian constitution will leave India on the positions of October 27, 1947.

President Masood Khan said that according to reports by Indian officials, 240 indigenous militants are active in IOK. He said that it was an irony that 700,000 Indian occupation forces are pitted against these 240 poorly armed “militants”. On the occasion, APHC leaders Syed Abdullah Gillani, Rafiq Dar and Syed Ijaz Rehmani said that today we unanimously display our resolve that the struggle for the right to self-determination will continue unabated in the face of intimidation by India.

They said that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is not possible without including the will and opinion of the Kashmiris. They further said that Indian aggression stems from the inability and of the Indian government in winning the hearts and minds of the Kashmiri people. They said that by repelling the manoeuvres of the Indian army, the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan have heightened the spirit of the Kashmiri people, who face the brutal Indian occupation forces every day.
