PTI government has appointed Syed Samsam Ali Bokhari as Punjab Information Minister after resignation of Fayyazul Hassan Chohan who made controversial remarks against Hindus

LAHORE: (Pakistan Point News - 05th March, 2019) PTI government has appointed Syed Samsam Ali Bokhari as Punjab Information Minister after resignation of Fayyazul Hassan Chohan who made controversial remarks against Hindus. The notification of his appointment, according to a local tv, will be issued soon. Hailed from Okara, Samsam was elected MPA from a Sahiwal constituency in by-poll held in October 2018. He lost his home seat in the general elections against a PML-N candidate.

Samsam had joined the PTI after leaving PPP in 2015. He earlier served as state minister for information in PPP’s 2008-13 tenure. Having long career in politics, Samsam is considered a moderate person against his predecessor who received much criticism on different occasions over his controversial remarks. Samsam held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at CM Secretariat before giving key responsibility. Earleir, Punjab CM had accepted Chohan resignation following demands from all segments of society for his removal.

CM Spokesman Dr Shahbaz Gill confirmed his resignation was accepted. Outspoken PTI minister on Sunday made derogatory remarks against the Hindu after which he faced intense criticism from social media and his own party men. There were reports that Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed severe anger and took notice of Chohan remarks. This is not the first time that the PTI leader from Rawalpindi’s words were condemned widely, his resignation was also demanded when he issued controversial statements against stage actress a couple of month ago. PM special assistant Naeemul Haq has not so far confirmed the appointment of Samsam as info minister. He said the government will soon make announcement in this regard.
