Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 5th March, 2019) Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved changing the uniform of Punjab Police.

The Punjab chief minister said that the police uniform will be changed with the next fiscal year.

The new uniform will include dark blue pants and light blue shirt.

The new uniform will be aimed at promoting soft image of police.

On the other hand, the chief minister also launched mobile application for service centres.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Buzdar said that the government aims to bring reforms to Punjab Police to make it a public police.

The Punjab police will become a role model for Pakistan. The police have to live up to the expectations of people, he said.

The chief minister further said that police needs to make people aware of ‘change’ by improving their attitude.

Moreover, CM Buzdar also directed the police to observe a week of ‘good conduct’.

The uniform of all the police force in Pakistan is to be made similar to the uniform of Islamabad police.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) had consulted the police chiefs of all the provinces in this regard.

Earlier, there were reports that Punjab IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi has decided to restore the previous uniform of the police by next year.

The Punjab IG said police force was facing difficulty in operations near provincial borders owing to the new uniform, adding that different uniform for every province create problems.

He went on to say, “Now it is a firm decision to have a single uniform across the country for police force.”
