WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th March, 2019) Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said he received a letter from imprisoned Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko who asked for help in persuading US authorities to provide him with medical care.
Yaroshenko is serving a 20-year jail term in the United States. He was captured in Liberia in 2010 and sentenced the following year in the United States on charges of conspiring to import drugs. In 2016, the New York Court of Appeals refused to revise his sentence.
"Yesterday I got a letter from Konstantin Yaroshenko," Antonov said during the conversation at Stimson Center in Washington, DC on Monday. Antonov noted that Yaroshenko has complained of "very poor" conditions in the jail and asked to help him to persuade US officials to provide him with medical care.
