MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th February, 2019) A total of 52 percent of people currently working in the United Kingdom consider the condition of the country's economy a menace to their future employment, a new poll by the Survation research agency, prepared on behalf of the Centre for Labour and Social Studies (CLASS), showed on Thursday.

"The research reveals that significant proportions of workers are struggling in the current economic climate. A third (34%) agreed that they do not earn enough to keep up with the basic cost of living, and only 41% disagreed ... A majority (58%) of workers find their job stressful and over half (52%) think the state of the economy is a threat to their future employment," the survey reads.

In addition, almost half of those polled noted an increase in employee stress and workload over the past year.

Brexit was one of the reasons for the lack of the respondents' optimism. Almost 30 percent think it would negatively influence their work within one year, while only 17 percent believe it would have a positive effect.

The survey was conducted on January 18-21 among 2,009 working adults over 18 years old across the United Kingdom.
