MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) Centaur-like robots that have four legs and a human-like torso could be developed to explore the Moon and other planets in the solar system, the executive director of Russian scientific production association Android Technics, Evgeny Dudorov, said in an interview with Sputnik.

"It will be necessary to build infrastructure that will enable humans to live and work on the Moon and on Mars. It would be sensible to use robots for this purpose. Since both the Moon and the planets are located far [from Earth], the need will arise to use partially autonomous robotic equipment. Perhaps, walking machines, wheeled machines or some other kinds of machines ... Perhaps, we should opt for biomorphic four-legged robots, maybe for a symbiosis of a wheeled machine and a human-like torso kind of like a centaur," Dudorov said.

He specified that in order to make the decision about the kind of robots that would be used, it would be necessary to run tests using special simulators.
