HANOI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) US President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed hope that his upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would be successful.
The second Trump-Kim summit will start in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi later in the day and will last through Thursday.
"We have a very big meeting plan, as you know, with North Korean Chairman Kim. I think it may very well turn out to be very successful ... I look forward for the meeting tonight with Chairman Kim, and hopefully it is going to be successful. We will see what happens. But he wants to do something great also," Trump said at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, broadcast by Global news.
At their previous summit, which was held in Singapore in June, Trump and Kim pledged to make effort to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, and this time they are expected to discuss concrete steps toward this aim that are yet to be taken.
