KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 25th February, 2019) Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that Pension has always been one of the most neglected and under-rated areas of our service delivery in public sector, especially.We all have witnessed incidents where the retired government employees have suffered due to non-payment of their pensionary benefits to the extent that they were left with no other option except attempting suicide, he said.

He said he was not blaming any one individual or organization for the sufferings of the pensioners. "This is the responsibility of everybody present here including myself," he said and added we have never really focused on the plight of this part of our society very seriously.This he said on Monday morning while delivering his inaugural at a seminar oragnised by Accountant General Sindh in collaboration with Finance department, government of Sindh here at a local hotel.

The seminar was addressed by Auditor General of Pakistan Javaid Jehangir, Controller General of Accounts Mazhar Hussain Zaki, Accountant General Sindh Ghufran Memon and others.The chief minister said that he was feeling feeling proud and honored to be part of the event which was one step towards to direction where his government was seriously thinking about making the life of pensioner easier. "Let me be very clear on this that by paying pension we are not doing any favor to the pensioners - it is their right," he said and added it was what they earn by serving the public throughout their career.

Shah added that at the age of sixty the retired persons needed more care, more attention and more respect. "I am happy that Mr. Ghufran Memon, Accountant General Sindh and his team in collaboration with Sindh government has established Sindh Pension Center in his office which is a state-of-art setup to pay hassle-free pension under one roof," he said.He further added that it was more heartening to know that AG Sindh, under the command of Controller General of Accounts and Auditor General of Pakistan, was now extrapolating the similar pension centers in every district accounts office to provide service delivery to the pensioners in all parts of Sindh at their doorstep.

The chief minister assured the team of AGP and CGA that government of Sindh would always be there to support them for such a noble cause, because, "I will be the happiest person on earth if the pensioners of Sindh province would receive their pensionary benefits on the day of their retirement," he said.He congratulated Accountant General Sindh for organizing seminar on such an important topic and hoped that the Sindh government would get the most out of it by participating actively.
