OSCE Cannot Guarantee Security for Russian Monitors at Ukrainian Election - President George Tsereteli

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA) will not be able to guarantee security for Russian monitors at the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine, OSCE PA President George Tsereteli said Thursday

VIENNA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA) will not be able to guarantee security for Russian monitors at the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine, OSCE PA President George Tsereteli said Thursday.

The winter session of the OSCE PA is held in Vienna on February 21-22. A meeting of the Russian delegation with Tsereteli took place on the sidelines of the session.

"We cannot guarantee their security," Tsereteli said during the meeting.

He added that it would be better if the Russian monitors abandon the idea of attending the election in order to avoid possible provocations.

"I think that from the Russian side ... it will be better if you do not do this. This is our vision," Tsereteli stressed.
