WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) US National Security Adviser John Bolton in a statement said Venezuelan Military Attache to the United Nations Col. Pedro Chirinos has recognized opposition leader Juan Guiado as the interim president of the country.
"Venezuela's military attache to the United Nations, Colonel Pedro Chirinos, has announced his official recognition of Juan Guaido as Interim President of Venezuela," Bolton said via Twitter on Wednesday.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the Trump administration of trying to orchestrate a coup last month after Guaido declared himself interim president and the United States seized billions of Dollars' worth of the country's oil assets. Russia, China, Mexico, among other nations, have reaffirmed their support for Maduro as Venezuela's only legitimate president.
