MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th February, 2019) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may visit China in March after his second summit with US President Donald Trump slated for late February in Hanoi, the Yonhap news agency reported on Wednesday citing a source.
Kim traveled to China before and a week after the first summit with Trump that took place in June 2017 in Singapore in order to discuss the results of the talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the same plan could be scheduled this time, according to the news outlet.
"For now, Chairman Kim's visit to China next month seems likely," the source said as quoted by the media.
On February 27-28, Trump and Kim are going to hold their second summit in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi for talks on denuclearization.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula has seen a significant improvement last year with Kim boosting ties with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and holding a historic summit with Trump in June.
The first US-North Korean summit resulted in an agreement stipulating that North Korea would make efforts to promote the complete denuclearization of the peninsula in exchange for the United States and South Korea freezing their military drills as well as the potential removal of US sanctions.
