MUNICH (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th February, 2019) The situation in the northeast of Syria should be resolved through a dialogue between Damascus and the Kurds once the United States withdraws its troops from the region, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said on Sunday.
"We have heard various options of what can be done after the US leaves Syria, once there are no foreign troops ... for example in the northeast of Syria. It seems to us the best solution to the problems would be a dialogue between the Kurds and Damascus. The Kurds as an integral part of the Syrian nation, the Kurds as those who have [always] lived and who will live in a united Syria," Vershinin said at the Munich Security Conference.
Vershinin stressed that "these problems should be resolved through dialogue," adding that Russia "would support this" and believes that "this is the path that should be taken."
