Trump Signs On To Budget Deal To Avert Another Federal Government Shutdown - White House

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th February, 2019) President Donald Trump has signed into law the 2019 Appropriations Act negotiated by Republicans and Democrats to prevent another federal government shutdown even though it does not include funding for his border wall, the White House said.

"Today, I have signed into law HJ Res. [House Joint Resolution]31, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2019, which authorizes appropriations to fund the operation of a number of agencies in the Federal Government through September 30, 2019," Trump said in a statement released by the White House on Friday.

Certain provisions of the Act (such as Division F, under the heading "Contribution for International Peacekeeping Activities") would require advance notice to the Congress before the President may direct certain military actions or provide certain forms of military assistance, Trump noted.

Trump also served notice in his statement that he would not regard as legal and binding, numerous provision in the bill to condition the authority of officers to spend or reallocate funds on the approval of congressional committees, the statement said.
