ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2019) The launching of e-learning platform (Madrasa) for 1,000 villages to support learning for Arab students living in villages, remote areas and refugee camps with no internet access is yet another inspiring initiative by the UAE leadership, a UAE newspaper has commented editorially.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has always held the firm view that education is the biggest hope for the Arab World and nothing should stop children from receiving it.
"It is heartening to note that the platform will provide 5,000 free Arabised videos in general science, maths, biology, chemistry and physics to students from kindergarten to grade 12 without Internet access through four innovative offline solutions," said The Gulf Today in an editorial on Friday.
As Sheikh Mohammed himself pointed out, e-learning bridges the knowledge gap in the Arab World. Improving the education system in the Arab World is an urgent priority. E-learning is the most effective way to empower Arab students and the ideal solution to provide them with world-class education wherever they are.
With artificial Intelligence and smart technology reshaping the future of the world, lethargy cannot be an option in digital transformation. It is heartening that the UAE well recognises this fact and has smartly pressed the right keys.
Several initiatives have been launched on similar lines using technology for meaningful purposes. For example, the 'One Million Arab Coders' project launched by Sheikh Mohammed earlier as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives aimed at keeping the country and the region well equipped to face the technological challenges of the future. The goal of the project was to provide unparalleled training opportunities for free to young people in the region.
It may be recalled that in October 2018, Sheikh Mohammed launched Madrasa, the Arab World’s biggest e-learning educational platform.
Over 1.5 million students joined the platform that generated over 4 million views since its launch three months ago. Madrasa uses simple technology to provide free educational content available online and via an app.
The Sharjah-based daily concluded by quoting Sheikh Mohammed as saying, "Madrasa for 1,000 villages is a message of life, determination and better future. There’s only one key to the success of our societies, economies and future: Education."
