Trump Administration Sued for Forcing Asylum Seekers Out of US - Rights Group

The Trump administration is facing a law suit seeking to end its policy of forcing asylum seekers out of the United States, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said in a statement

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th February, 2019) The Trump administration is facing a law suit seeking to end its policy of forcing asylum seekers out of the United States, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said in a statement.

"We're suing to stop the Trump administration's new policy that forces asylum seekers out of US, stranding them in Mexico indefinitely while cases are processed," the ACLU said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

The Trump administration policy violates US and international law and has put asylum seekers' lives in danger, the ACLU said.

Earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security began sending asylum-seekers at US ports of entries back to Mexico while they wait for their cases to be reviewed by US immigration judges. Previously, immigrants who passed the so-called credible fear interview could stay in the United States while waiting for the courts to decide on their asylum cases.
