Trump 'Concerned' at US Debt Topping $22 Trillion - Top Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow

President Donald Trump is concerned that the US national debt has soared to a record $22 trillion, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said on Thursday, according to a White House pool report

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) President Donald Trump is concerned that the US national debt has soared to a record $22 trillion, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said on Thursday, according to a White House pool report.

"The president is concerned, he's always been concerned," Kudlow told a White House press gaggle. "The way to get at that is to, first of all, keep the debt burden down on the economy. So debt-to-GDP is the number, just like deficits-to-GDP is the right number."

The correct response for reducing the national debt was to grow the economy to its maximum potential by creating the right set of incentives, Kudlow told reporters.

"You don't raise taxes to 90 or 95 percent, you don't have a Socialist playing takeover of the economy, you keep encouraging businesses and keep encouraging business and entrepreneur confidence - the things this president has been doing," Kudlow said.

Kudlow said the White House was confident that the deficit and debt-to-GDP numbers would come down.
