PREVIEW - Two-Day Annual Russian Investment Forum to Showcase Range of Russia's Economic Potential

The two-day Russian Investment Forum (RIF), hosted by Roscongress, will start on Thursday in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi and will gather together politicians, diplomats, and businesspeople to discuss the investment and economic potential of Russia.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) The two-day Russian Investment Forum (RIF), hosted by Roscongress, will start on Thursday in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi and will gather together politicians, diplomats, and businesspeople to discuss the investment and economic potential of Russia.

The annual forum, which will last through Friday, will bring together a wide spectrum of Russian and international attendees, with notable guests including the president of Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the foreign minister of Abkhazia, Daur Kove.

Attendees will also hear from Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin and Natural Resources and Environment Minister Dmitry Kobylkin at various panel sessions throughout the forum.

Participants can attend a variety of sessions running throughout the forum. The RIF aims to cover a wide array of sectors during its panel discussions, which include topics such as "Exporting Agricultural Output: the Regional Agenda," "Social Entrepreneurship as a Factor Contributing to the Country's Well-Being" and "The Economics of Urban Comfort."

To help participants decide which sessions to attend, Roscongress has divided them into subsections of "The Business Climate in Russia: On the Path to Growth," "Regional Policy: Responding to Challenges" and "The New Social Agenda."

Ambassadors will also participate in the forum to represent their country's business interests. On Wednesday, Burundi's Ambassador to Russia Edouard Bizimana told Sputnik that he would attend the RIF to assess the perspectives for bilateral investments between Russia and Burundi.

France's Ambassador to Russia Sylvie Bermann will participate in a session titled "Economy vs Climate: Lessons on Adaptation" which will explore how business can tackle threats to their profits from climate change and the government support they can receive.

Meanwhile, according to Roscongress, the forum will witness the signing of 500 agreements, worth 800 billion rubles ($12.2 billion), along with agreements on cooperation. On Wednesday, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham Russia) Alexis Rodzianko told Sputnik that he would sign a cooperation agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund on Thursday.

In 2018, over 6,000 people attended the RIF and 538 agreements were signed for a total of 794 billion rubles.
