MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th February, 2019) The height of the International Space Station (ISS) will be increased by 1.6 kilometers (almost 1 mile) on February 26 using the engines of the Russian Progress MS-10 (Progress 71) cargo spacecraft, a source in the space industry told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"The Progress MS-10 engines, docked at the ISS Zvezda module, are set to be switched on at 05.21 Moscow time [02:21 GMT] on February 26. They will work for 445 seconds and as a result the average height of the station's orbit will increase by 1.6 kilometers," the source said.

The aim of the maneuver is to prepare the station for receiving the Soyuz MS-12 manned spacecraft, which launch is slated for March 14, and the Progress MS-11 space freighter, which will depart to the ISS on April 4, according to the source.
