MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) The Taliban said on Tuesday it had put together a team of negotiators for the peace talks this month with the United States in the Qatari capital Doha, Afghanistan's media reported.

The insurgent group said in a statement that the 14-member team would be led by its political chief, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, according to the TOLOnews broadcaster.

Another name on the list is Anas Haqqani, the jailed brother of late Jalaluddin Haqqani who founded the notorious Haqqani Network, a powerful guerrilla group. Afghan authorities refuse to free Anas.

The talks are set for February 25, the new outlets added. The US military pullout from Afghanistan will reportedly be high on the agenda.

Stanikzai told Sputnik at this month's intra-Afghan talks in Moscow that no time line for the withdrawal had been set. US forces have been in the Central Asian country since the 2001 war on terror.
