WARSAW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) Poland is set to announce on Sunday the purchase of US-built M142 light mobile� launch rocket systems that have an up to 300-kilometer (186-mile) range, along with related equipment, the Polish Defense Ministry said.
"On Sunday, February 10, President of the Council of Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak will announce the purchase of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) for the Polish Armed Forces," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition to the rocket launchers, the Polish military will also receive the necessary ammunition, the statement said.
HIMARS is able to carry guided rockets that have ranges varying from 2 to 300 kilometers. The launch systems are mounted on a medium tactical vehicle.
Last November, the US State Department said that it had approved the possible sale of 20 US-built M142 rocket launchers along with equipment for an estimated $655 million. US corporation Lockheed Martin was announced as the main contractor.
