WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th February, 2019) US President Donald Trump will tell Congress in tonight's State of the Union address that the United States' trade policies have been disastrous for decades, the White House revealed.
"To build on our incredible economic success, one priority is paramount: reversing decades of calamitous trade policies," the excerpt said on Tuesday.
China and the United States have been engaged in a trade war since Trump announced last June that $50 billion worth of Chinese goods would be subject to 25 percent tariffs in a bid to fix the US-Chinese trade deficit. Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of trade tariffs.
In November, Trump, former Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The USMCA, set to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), has to be ratified by the three countries' parliaments.
