MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th February, 2019) US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell crossed the line when he sent letters to German companies about potential sanctions on the Nord Stream-2 project, Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said.Grenell sent letters to a number of German companies in January, hinting that Washington could introduce sanctions for supporting the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline construction project, under which Russian natural gas would be brought to Europe via the Baltic Sea and a hub in Germany.
"The incident with the American ambassador in Berlin sending letters threatening sanctions goes beyond decency. To the credit of our partners from Berlin, they immediately responded to this demarche, realizing that the United States once again demonstrated its intention to set the energy agenda without regard for the interests of European partners," Titov said in an interview with the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper.
