The fans honoured the Pakistani all-rounder by dedicating a complete day to him.
Speaking about this on his Twitter, Shahid Afridi said that he is humbled to have a day named after him in the City of Port Arthur, Texas.
He called it an honour to be acknowledged for a game he loves and to have represented his country.
The star cricketer thanked his fans for their continuous love, support, and well-wishes.
“This day is as much mine as it is yours!#HappyAfridiDay” he wrote.
After retiring from cricket, Shahid Afridi is running his welfare organization named Shahid Afridi Foundation. The NGO aims to improve the lives of the underprivileged communities through various efforts, focusing the state of healthcare and education within the country and providing clean and safe drinking water to the poor.
The Twitter account of Shahid Afridi Foundation says that it works "for the less privileged to give them what we can to keep their #HopeNotOut".
Afridi’s humanitarian efforts have been appreciated at home and abroad.
