MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd February, 2019) US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun is scheduled to meet with his North and South Korean counterparts in Seoul on Sunday to discuss the settlement of the crisis on the Korean Peninsula.
The US official will first meet with South Korean envoy Lee Do-hoon, while a meeting with his North Korean counterpart Kim Hak Chul would follow.
During the talks, Biegun will discuss next steps to advance the US objective of the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea and the ways to make further progress on all the commitments reached by US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during their June summit in Singapore.
The envoy will try to find out what kind of reciprocal measures Kim seeks from the United States in exchange for denuclearization.
The upcoming meetings are expected to prepare grounds for the new summit between Trump and Kim, expected to take place in late February.
The US leader said on Thursday that he would announce the date and location of the new summit with Kim next week.
